semiconductor industry. He is the Founder, Chairman, President,
and CEO of Etron Technology, Inc., and the co-founder and executive
of several other successful companies. He received his B.S.
in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in
1975 and M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford
University in 1978 and 1981, respectively. He holds over 24
U.S. patents and has published more than 50 technical papers.
Dr. Lu is a highly-respected leader in the electrical engineering
world. He was elected to be a fellow of the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1991 and awarded the IEEE
1998 Solid State Circuits Field Award ¡§for pioneering contributions
to high speed dynamic memory design and cell technology.¡¨
He was honored in 1999 with the membership of National Academy
of Engineering of the United States for his longtime contributions
to and achievements in the semiconductor industry. Since then,
Dr. Lu has been pioneering the Known-Good-Die technologies
enabling stacked-die integration chips. He summoned the new
rise of a heterogeneous integration era by a keynote speech,
¡§Emerging Technology and Business Solutions for System Chips,¡¨
in the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC)
in 2004.
Dr. Lu was elected to be a fellow of the Chinese Society for
Management of Technology in 2004. He was honored to be an
outstanding alumnus from National Chiao-Tung University and
the Electrical Engineering School of National Taiwan University.
As a leader and architect pioneering the 8¡¨ wafer and DRAM
technologies of the semiconductor industries in Taiwan, he
received the Year 2000 National Medal of Excellence in Science
and Technology from the Premier of the Republic of China.
Due to his leadership and enthusiasm in the development of
the industry, Dr. Lu also serves as a managing board director
of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA) and
the Association of Allied Industries in the Hsinchu Science
Park, and the Asia-Pacific Council Chairman of the Fabless
Semiconductor Association (FSA).
